Position overview

In partnership with Yonkers Public Schools, Azadi Partners is seeking compassionate, dynamic, and fully bilingual (Spanish/English) Family Engagement Specialists for the 2026–2029 school years.

In this role, you will lead high-impact family engagement workshops, trauma-informed attendance outreach, and home-school partnership programs for parents and caregivers. You will play a vital role in empowering families with the tools and confidence to support their children's academic growth, while directly supporting the District's Pledge 182 initiative to combat chronic absenteeism.

This position is ideal for bilingual social workers, school counselors, family liaisons, or community facilitators who are passionate about building strong, culturally responsive connections between schools and families.

Compensation & Support

  • Facilitation Rate

    $65.00 – $85.00 / hour or equivalent per-session flat rate based on workshop duration (commensurate with experience, credentials, and bilingual facilitation expertise).

  • Onboarding & Setup Pay

    Paid time provided for initial orientation and training.

  • Turnkey Materials

    Supported by Azadi's instructional team.

Key responsibilities

  • Home-School Academic Workshops

    Design and facilitate interactive, bilingual workshops for parents and caregivers in both English and Spanish.

    Translate complex classroom concepts into practical home strategies, including Literacy at Home (supporting the Science of Reading), Demystifying Modern Math ("Math Talk"), and Digital Literacy & AI Safety for families.

  • Pledge 182 & Attendance Support

    Lead trauma-informed and restorative family engagement sessions aimed at identifying and overcoming root-cause barriers to student attendance.

    Foster trusting, collaborative relationships with families who may feel disconnected from the school system.

  • Bilingual Resource & Toolkit Development

    Help create and distribute culturally responsive, bilingual family guides, resource kits, and workshop materials.

  • Data Tracking & Impact Reporting

    Collect and maintain accurate parent attendance logs, workshop feedback surveys, and monthly impact summaries utilizing Azadi's Standard-aligned, Research-Based Data Protocol (SRBDP).

Qualifications & experience

  • Education & Credentials

    Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Education, Human Services, or a related field required; Master's degree preferred.

  • Language Proficiency

    Native or professional-level bilingual fluency in English and Spanish is required (both spoken and written).

  • Experience

    Minimum of 2–3 years of experience in community outreach, family advocacy, workshop facilitation, or school counseling in urban or diverse school settings.

    Demonstrated experience applying trauma-informed communication, restorative practices, or family engagement strategies.

  • Skills

    Exceptional public speaking, group facilitation, and interpersonal skills.

    Ability to create a welcoming, inclusive, and non-judgmental environment for diverse adult learners.

    Basic computer and technology literacy for managing virtual sessions and logging attendance data.

Schedule & location

  • Schedule

    Flexible, project-based hours. Workshops and outreach sessions will occur primarily during after-school hours, weekday evenings, or Saturday mornings to accommodate working families.

  • Location

    In-person at participating Yonkers Public Schools and partner sites, with select virtual workshop options.

  • Growth Opportunities

    High-performing contractors may be offered expanded responsibilities across multiple school sites and multi-year contract renewals.
