Position overview
In partnership with Yonkers Public Schools, Azadi Partners is seeking experienced, student-centered Title I Academic Intervention Specialists for the 2026–2029 school years.
In this role, you will deliver high-impact, small-group and 1:1 academic interventions in ELA/literacy and mathematics for eligible K–12 students. You will work directly with students in-district and out-of-district to close achievement gaps, strengthen foundational skills, and build academic confidence.
This position is ideal for certified teachers, reading/math specialists, and MLL educators who desire flexible, project-based work supported by a team that handles high-level project management and curriculum frameworks.
Compensation & Onboarding
Delivery Rate
$60.00 – $80.00 / hour (commensurate with credentials, experience, and bilingual capability).
Onboarding Stipends
Opportunities for additional project-based stipends for initial orientation, site setup, and curriculum alignment.
Collaborative Support
Supported by Azadi's instructional team with access to foundational guides, lesson structures, and data tracking tools.
Key responsibilities
Direct Student Instruction
Deliver targeted, small-group or 1:1 academic interventions in literacy and mathematics aligned with New York State Learning Standards.
Evidence-Based Pedagogy
Apply Science of Reading principles and structured literacy routines (e.g., phonemic awareness, vocabulary development, fluency, and comprehension).
Facilitate Conceptual Mathematics ("Math Talk") routines to build deep problem-solving skills and fluency.
Differentiate instruction for Multilingual Learners (MLLs) and students with diverse learning needs, including Heritage Spanish support when applicable.
Progress Monitoring & Data Tracking
Implement data protocols to track student growth, assess learning outcomes, and inform instruction.
Collaboration & Reporting
Maintain accurate student attendance logs, complete monthly service reports, and communicate regularly with the Azadi Partners project lead.
Qualifications & experience
Education & Certification
Bachelor's degree in Education required; Master's degree preferred.
Valid New York State Teaching Certification (e.g., Elementary Education, Reading/Literacy Specialist, Mathematics, Special Education, or TESOL/Bilingual Education).
Experience
Minimum of 2–3 years of classroom teaching or small-group intervention experience in K–12 settings.
Demonstrated expertise in the Science of Reading, Conceptual Math, and/or Multilingual Learner (MLL) strategies.
Experience working with diverse student populations in urban or high-need school environments.
Language Skills
Bilingual English/Spanish fluency is strongly preferred to support Yonkers' Multilingual Learner population.
Skills
Strong classroom/group management skills and a student-centered, empathetic approach.
Comfort using educational technology and digital progress-monitoring tools.
Schedule & location
Delivery Windows
Sessions may occur during the school day, in after-school programs, or on Saturday mornings.
Hours
Variable, project-based hours tailored to your availability and school scheduling needs.
Opportunity for Growth
